Brunnsviksbadet

Stockholm

Visit early in the day to enjoy a quieter experience by the water.

Brunnsviksbadet, nestled along Frescati Hagväg in the northern part of Stockholm, offers a serene escape for those looking to unwind in nature. This communal beach area is managed collaboratively by the city authorities and provides a welcoming space for families and individuals alike. Its proximity to the city center makes it a convenient option for a day out, located just a short walk from public transport stations, including the Roslagsbanan and the metro.

The beach itself is child-friendly, featuring not only a sandy stretch but also rugged cliffs and smaller grass patches for those who prefer a bit of greenery. For those eager to take a dip, the waters are easily accessible thanks to a small permanent platform that leads to two floating piers equipped with ladders. Safety measures are in place, as lifeguard equipment is readily available. Moreover, during the summer months, a buoy line demarcates the swimming area, ensuring a safe swimming experience.

Although Brunnsviksbadet lacks a designated car parking area, it's within a leisurely walk from nearby public transport options, enhancing its appeal to those traveling by train or on foot. However, potential visitors should note that, while the beach is accessible, there are no kiosk or refreshment options, rest rooms, showers, or formal changing facilities on site—though a temporary toilet is installed during the summer to accommodate visitors.

Pets are not allowed on the beach from June through August, with the exception of guide and assistance dogs, emphasizing a family-oriented atmosphere. The absence of grilling stations ensures that visitors can enjoy the natural setting without the pervading smells that often accompany such activities.

The beach offers a rustic and peaceful environment, ideal for a tranquil day by the water in Stockholm.

This location is highly recommended and offers an enjoyable experience. I visited with my class today, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. However, it is important to note that there was a significant amount of animal feces on both the bridges, including the one with a ladder and the one situated in the water. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall experience remains highly positive.
