Mai Thai River immediately catches your attention with its colorful, whimsical décor, and it was completely full when we visited, so it is clearly a popular spot. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite match the atmosphere. There seemed to be very few people working the floor. Our server was very sweet but visibly overworked, and we had to follow up even for water. My order arrived incorrectly so it had to be sent back. The rest of our group thought their food was okay, but one noodle dish was disappointing. It didn’t taste particularly Thai to me and came across more like a Chinese-style noodle dish, with such a strong soy-sauce flavor. The watermelon juice, however, was good. Mai Thai River is certainly fun to look at and obviously draws a crowd, but based on our experience, I would go for the playful setting rather than expecting standout Thai food or attentive service, particularly when the restaurant is busy.
Great food and cute ambience. Location is perfect close to major attractions. Service is quick. Appetizer portion is really small for the price. Want to give it 4.5, but no such option here. Chicken satay - 4/5..appetizer portion is the tiniest I ever saw!
My thai wife was craving for real thai food, so we checked this place Mae Thai River near our hotel. Unfortunately the food was not really tasty. We ordered Pad Kra Paow, but instead got served a Cashew Chicken. After we complained, the correct food arrived. The Moo Grop was actually quite nice. Also we ordered Somtum, but the taste was far away from anything we know from Thailand and surely could improve. My wife immediately knew what was wrong and asked for more sugar and fish sauce, which got added. With the food i had a beer and was craving for a second beer, but no service. Nobody came and asked, we got ignored for nearly half an hour despite the place was nearly empty by that time. Staff was busy doing i-don't-know-what and didn't bother to come and serve us. We left with a bad feeling, especially because we were asked to pay tip with the credit card machine. Tip we like to give, but only if have good service. For this experience - no thanks, and we will not return.
Discovered by accident as I saw their advertisement on the lunch menu: daily changing food options for just 154 SEK including water, coffee and lemonade. Before 11.30 it was pretty quiet but then suddenly it started to fill up quickly. The food was really nice, but could be a bit more authentic tasting. Staff is very friendly, young and hardworking. The interior is really cool! Modern twists and psychedelic jungle vibes.
Great place with a good vibe, adorable staff, and affordable prices for beautiful (and expensive!) Stockholm. Loved the Thai food — definitely a spot I’d come back to!
