Description

Travel back in time at this authentic showcase of pre-industrial Sweden. Visit houses and homesteads from all over the country and experience traditional rural life firsthand. Experience the different social conditions in which people lived between the 16th and the first half of the 20th century. Discover the history of Sweden. Find out how the Swedes once lived through the changing seasons, traditions, work, celebrations, and everyday life of times past. Encounter animal life, including Nordic wild animals, rare breeds, domestic animals, and exotic creatures.  Enjoy a delicious meal (not included) at one of the restaurants that offer breathtaking views over Stockholm. Be sure to visit the museum shop as well, where you’ll find traditional handicrafts and Swedish-designed items. Let your children enjoy a Zoo featuring domestic animals such as cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Skansen is also home to 75 different species of animals, including wild animals such as lynx, elk, and brown bears, and several breeds of domestic animals. The museum changes decorations seasonally with different themes. This season, experience a historic Christmas market, dating back to 1903. Buy handicrafts, sweets, homemade candles, and Christmas presents. The Christmas Market is open from Friday to Sunday from 26 November until 19 December.
