A pleasant restaurant in the heart of the Old Town. The menu features traditional Swedish dishes. Seasonal dishes, such as asparagus soup, were a pleasant surprise. I also tried the venison there. Very delicious. Excellent service, good cuisine, a lovely place. It was a bit dark, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the evening. Definitely recommended.
We had a fantastic meal here and loved the salmon tartare and Swedish meatballs! Service was great and the street the restaurant is on is so cute. We enjoyed it so much, we came back a week later and ate here again as the last meal of our trip.
We came across this place almost by chance and were curious about its strong ratings. Luckily, we managed to get a small (really quite small) table for two without a reservation. The service was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. It’s rare to have such a pleasant experience. The food was a bit mixed. The beef tartare was unusual, topped with cheese, a mayonnaise-like sauce, peppermint, and something crispy — not quite what we expected. However, the main courses (venison and beef tenderloin) were excellent, both perfectly prepared and full of flavor. Unfortunately, the dessert, beer, and aperitif didn’t live up to the same standard and felt a bit disappointing compared to the mains. Overall, a good experience, especially thanks to the service and the quality of the main dishes.
This place was probably our best meal in Stockholm. We arrived 1.5h before closing and there were a few patrons enjoying their meal when we came in. Thankfully the kitchen was still open for a few more minutes. Jay was our server and he was great. Always made sure we were well taken care of and were doing okay. We ordered the venison and the Swedish meatballs… because when in Sweden right? Venison came out soft and tender. Not hard or rubbery. It was cooked perfectly. Swedish meatballs were some of the best we had. Also perfectly cooked and season. The food on our plate was great. Thanks to the Chef. Dessert was chocolate with lingonberry sauce. Jay cut it in half for us because we said we would share it. Made it easier for my wife and I since we had our own place. Again great flavor but also great service from Jay for giving us our own plates so we didn’t need to reach in If you want a very good traditional Swedish meal in Gamla Stan, we highly recommend this place. Thank you to Jay and the restaurant for taking care of us.
We had a wonderful dinner at Kryp In in Gamla Stan a small, cozy Swedish restaurant with a warm and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed evening in Stockholm 🍷🕯️ We started with the Skagen toast (195 SEK), which was fresh and nicely balanced, with creamy shrimp, dill and lemon on crisp bread - a classic Swedish starter done properly. 🍤 🥩 For mains, we ordered the Swedish meatballs (245 SEK), the venison (325 SEK) and the sirloin steak (335 SEK). The meatballs were tender, flavorful and truly comforting, served with creamy mashed potatoes, lingonberries and rich gravy — everything tasted homemade and authentic. The venison was beautifully cooked, very tender and full of deep Nordic flavors. The sirloin steak was juicy and perfectly seasoned, with a well-balanced sauce. 🌱What I really appreciate about Kryp In is that the menu changes depending on the season, which makes it feel even more authentic and carefully curated. You can tell they focus on seasonal ingredients and traditional Swedish cuisine. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the whole place feels welcoming and cozy. It’s one of those restaurants where you feel comfortable staying a bit longer and enjoying the atmosphere. If you’re looking for traditional Swedish food in Gamla Stan, with seasonal dishes, homemade flavors and a cozy setting, Kryp In is definitely a great choice.
