Food was wonderful. We did not realized they close at 9PM. We were also not aware that some authentic Asian dishes (duck, pork hock) needs to be ordered a day in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed the mapo tofu and the veggies!

I was here seven years ago and left with a certain impression. Coming back now, after hearing people say it’s improved, I expected more. First thing you notice? It’s dark. Very dark. You walk in and can barely tell what’s what. It creates a sense of mystery, sure, maybe even a bit of luxury. But it also feels like it’s hiding something. The menu is solid on paper, with set menus or à la carte options. We went for sashimi, Iberico pork skewers, and crispy duck in red curry. Let’s start with the sashimi. It arrives clean, no garnish, no distractions. That’s usually a good sign. The simpler it is, the more confident the kitchen should be. But then, just as it’s served, they pour a soy-based sauce all over it. Why? Let me decide how much I want. Don’t drown it before I’ve even had a chance to taste the fish on its own. It was fine, but I’ve had better, and the move raises questions. The Iberico skewers were slightly overdone for my taste. A bit dry. And again, plenty of sauce. You start wondering if it’s there to compensate rather than complement. The standout dish was the crispy duck in red curry. Finally, balance. Heat, depth, and flavor working together properly. That’s what you’re looking for. One issue across the dishes: a lot of meat on the bone. It looks generous, but in reality, you’re getting less than you think. At these prices, that matters. Service is good. Attentive and professional. The wine list is decent, nothing exceptional but perfectly acceptable. But here’s the bottom line. Just like seven years ago, it’s… good. Not bad, not amazing. And for the price point, Stockholm has plenty of Asian restaurants that deliver more. Expected more. Didn’t quite get there.

Foods were really good and close to Southeast Asian taste. We ordered ala carte and got free rice refill. One thing, most dishes are quite sweet, so it feels a bit heavy without rice. Would be better if the sweetness is reduced. We ordered; 1. Duck red curry: recommended, tender and flavorful. Feels like a mix of Thai and Indonesian curry. 2. Short ribs satay: the fried ribs were nicely seasoned. Only few drops of the satay peanut sauce on the fried ribs. 3. Caramelized pork: pork itself is amazing, crispy outside and tender inside. But we felt it was the sweetest dish, even after adding vinegar. The sauce tastes like Indonesian sweet soy sauce, maybe sambal kecap style would work better. 4. Morning glory and tofu: fried tofu on top was really good but only got 3 small cubes, would be nice to have more. Overall good taste, just enough portion, and nice ambience. Would love to visit again

Farang is an absolute standout in Stockholm. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt spot on — warm, intimate, and perfect for a romantic dinner. It genuinely made the night feel special. A massive shout-out to Rasmus, our waiter, who was unbelievable. Friendly, conversational, and incredibly knowledgeable. He talked us through the menu, gave spot-on recommendations, and even steered us away from over-ordering — it ended up being the perfect amount. The food was outstanding across the board. The soft shell crab was perfectly crisp and full of flavour. The satay grilled chicken was beautifully balanced and cooked to perfection. The crispy pork stir fry, which Rasmus mentioned is their signature dish, more than lived up to the hype and was a clear standout. For dessert, we had the Phanangan Bounty and the Singapore. We were originally going to double up on the Bounty but were encouraged to try the Singapore as well — and it ended up being the perfect final touch to an already incredible dinner. Exceptional food, incredible service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. Farang is a must-visit.

Overall Review: With food and service like this, it's the best Thai restaurant in Stockholm. Food: The quality is on par with high-end restaurants in Thailand. The som tam salad was the best I've ever had, and the red curry duck, crab fried rice, and dessert were all perfectly delicious. However, the pork dish, which seemed like a signature item, was a bit salty. It was just right when eaten with rice. We wanted to order the tasting menu but opted for à la carte due to having a child. Overall, everyone was very satisfied with the flavors. We didn't order wine, but the wine list looked decent. Service: From greeting at the entrance to drinks, serving, food explanations, and payment, everything was swift, professional, and friendly. The serving speed was surprisingly fast. Atmosphere: It didn't look like it from the outside, but inside it's incredibly spacious and large. It has a fancy, upscale European restaurant feel. However, it's too dark, and the center area is a bit noisy, so it doesn't seem ideal for bringing children. Plus, half the table lamps were turned off, making it even darker. Anyway, it was a place that made for a very satisfying birthday dinner.
