Stampen is nestled in the historic Gamla Stan district of Stockholm, a vibrant locale known for its winding cobblestone streets and rich cultural history. Originally a pawnshop with origins tracing back to 17th-century church premises, Stampen now flourishes as a popular jazz and rhythm'n'blues bar. It has retained its charming character with antique items adorning the venue, providing an authentic atmosphere that attracts music enthusiasts of all ages.

The bar is renowned for presenting a diverse range of live music, predominantly featuring American roots music such as jazz and modern blues. Its eclectic music program makes it a favored spot for both locals and visitors seeking a lively and engaging night out. Over the years, the venue has hosted an impressive lineup of renowned musicians, adding to its storied reputation.

Beyond the music, Stampen offers an inviting bar experience with an array of strong, classic cocktails and a wide selection of spirits. The beer is always served cold, complemented by a variety of non-alcoholic beverages. The accompanying bar menu provides hearty bites that harmonize well with the high-energy setting.

This venue's relaxed yet vibrant environment makes it an ideal choice for a casual evening with friends or an exciting date night. The lack of advance reservations suggests a drop-in friendly policy, offering a spontaneous and welcoming atmosphere. Great little club. Not a lot of seats, but you can sit beside the stage, by the bar or large windows, or stand. Great vibe with the former pawnshop history. Enjoyed the Thursday Quartet show.

We were a group of old Spanish friends in Stockholm looking for a place with live music. We didn’t know anything about Stampen before, and I have to say it was one of the best nights I've ever spent in a bar, listening to music and dancing. We were very lucky! An incredible jam session that I thoroughly enjoyed! The day we were there was Saturday, May 23, 2026.
