Restaurant Marten Trotzig was a very good place in old town Stockholm to enjoy lunch with friends. All of us selected meals from the lunch special menu, which were all local fare. Ordered a Sprite to drink, assuming it was regular and the waiter brought a sugar free; there was no regular Sprite so drank water instead. Very nice and quiet atmosphere.
Highly recommend The food met our expectations 100%. We had the herring and pike perch, both of which were delicious. We had the rhubarb mocktail which to them wasn’t too sweet, but was a little too sweet for our taste. We reserved a table even though we ate early at 17:00. I will always book when I want to eat at a particular place and time if the option is given, no matter where I am. My husband had to adjust his hearing aid to the restaurant setting due to the background music and people talking. It wasn’t an issue as there were only 4 tables on use. I wouldn’t like to say what it would be like when full. The restaurant has a cozy feeling. With paid 702 kr for the two main courses and mocktails
If you looking for atmosphere and Swedish classics, I recommend a visit. The food is good, but with limited vegetarian options. It is a little pricey. Not because the food reaches those heights, but because of the location. It is definitely one of the 5 dining places I would pick in Gamla Stan.
Recommended by a local for traditional Swedish food, this place did not disappoint. Excellent food — meatballs, reindeer, fried herring — all succulent and full of flavour. Quick service and nice ambience too.
Very good restaurant. We ordered the Reindeer steak and fried herring. Flavorful and very delicious. We also ordered the warm apple strudel and the Trotzig chocolate praline. Both are great but the chicolate praline was something else. It was amazing. They have a good selection of wines and drinks. Host was a warm and friendly gentleman. And atmosphere was cosy and relaxed. Servers are great and food came out quickly. We are extremely happy with everything. One of the better restaurants in Gamla Stan. Highly recommend.
