Great value for location and character. People over 6ft are advised to bring helmets (in the time of dragons, people were smaller). The highlight was our gracious host, firing up the oven in the downstairs cafe so it's like waking up inside a pastry.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Sven Vintappare. We could not have found a better location in central Stockholm to walk to most of the things we wanted to do. The staff was incredible and super helpful with questions and recommendations. Breakfast was so nice with fresh croissant smells wafting up to your room before you headed down to eat. Two minor things to consider before booking a stay here: 1. There are steep, spiraling stairs to get to most rooms. Each floor only has 2 rooms so you may have a lot of stairs! 2. There is quite a bit of street noise since it is in the downtown area. The hotel provided ear plugs though and I used a noise machine that drowned most of it out.

We really loved our stay here, hotel history/restaurant dating back to 1607. Nice clean room on a small quiet street, centrally located on the old historic part of Stockholm. Breakfasts were lovely, we really enjoyed the ginger shots and smoothie shots at Breakfast. All the waitress staff each morning were very friendly, helpful, happy and the front person of the hotel. Highly recommend staying here. Would we come back , for sure ! Would we recommend, without hesitation ! Well done to the breakfast staff ladies especially Engla for making our stay all the more enjoyable.

First of all if you are looking for a plastic & chrome hotel with all the whistles and bells then you won't find it here. If you are looking for a quaint, quirky, full of character cozy little hotel, then look no further. Check-in is simple - a door-code (give the door a good shove as it has settled in its frame after all these years), wind your way up the stairs (and yes they do wind and they do creak) and there, hanging on a peg. YES a key! what a joy, and it is a proper key in keeping with the old building. There are 2 doors, one that only opens from the outside and one that only opens from the inside - worth remembering!. Our room was lovely, a seriously sloping floor, a beamed ceiling, windows in 2 directions, comfy beds, 2 chairs and a table, a desk, a little closet. Lighting that could be adjusted, mock candles that flickered to add to the atmosphere. Small bathroom, but what can be expected in a building from a few centuries ago. The toilet worked, the shower was hot and powerful enough, the toiletries smelt nice and everything was provided including a water scraper to tend to the floor after showering. Breakfast was good, fresh bread, croissants, eggs, juice, smoothie, ginger shots, yoghurt, cereal, tea and coffee. And no waft of bacon or badly scrambled eggs! Such joy. We were attended to by a young, cheery, helpful member of staff that made sure everything was provided. Yes the breakfast room is small but it is all part of the experience. Overall we would, without a doubt, come back and we will recommend the hotel to a select few in order to keep it that little bit secret.
