Description

Spend a day exploring a Nature Reserve, protected area, or one of the many islands in the Stockholm archipelago at your own pace. Choose from a variety of hikes when you collect your equipment.

All routes are point-to-point (A to B) and designed for use with public transportation to and from the trailhead. Hikes range from 6 km to 13 km, with difficulty levels from moderate to challenging.

  • A Walk in The Park
    This challenging 13 km hike lies 20 km from central Stockholm in an unspoiled rift valley landscape unique to central Sweden. The protected park covers almost 5,000 hectares of primeval forest, including 400-year-old pine trees, clear forest lakes, and diverse flora and fauna. You'll also encounter broad-leaved deciduous woodland, open fields, and historical buildings.
    Distance: 13 km | Duration: 4–6 hours | Difficulty: 4 – challenging | Elevation gain: 50 m
  • After Effort Comfort
    This 12 km hike is the most challenging option, offering a remote experience away from Stockholm’s noise. You’ll pass five lakes suitable for bathing, surrounded by natural sounds such as birdsong and rustling leaves. The hike ends by a scenic lake.
    Distance: 12 km | Duration: 5–6 hours | Difficulty: 3 – challenging | Elevation gain: 430 m
  • Subway to Sauna
    The shortest hike at 6 km, closest to the city, suitable if you have limited time. It passes through a dense coniferous forest and several lakes. The first half follows an even, wide path, while the second half becomes narrower with changes in altitude, finishing at a lake.

At the Adventure Café, you receive instructions, maps, and all necessary equipment. The hike is self-guided, so you will navigate to and from the trailhead independently.
