This was such an unforgettable experience! The evening was absolutely perfect from start to finish. I've been meaning to write this review for a while just to share how truly amazing this place is. A special thank you to Mike for making the night so exceptional!
Matbaren serves Modern Global Bistro cuisine with a New Nordic core. We enjoyed Chef Mathias Dahlgren’s 4-course menu, "The Natural Cuisine," which showcases premium ingredients in four distinct acts. First, thinly sliced raw yellowfin tuna offered an incredibly refreshing start. Next, a deep-fried 63° egg arrived with white asparagus; cutting into the crispy shell released a rich, warm yolk that mingled perfectly with nutty browned butter and velvety hollandaise. The third course, a Swedish Rödkulla shish kebab, playfully transformed high-quality local produce into global street food. Finally, Stenhuse Gård rhubarb elevated a simple summer crumble into a sophisticated finale, balancing brilliant tartness with smooth vanilla ice cream. The meal perfectly embodied the philosophy of "Scandinavian Heart, Global Accents."
I enjoyed a pre-ordered meal here with our company leadership team. Although I’ve been to many restaurants in the area, this was my first time here, and since it has one Michelin star, my expectations were high. From the tangy tuna starter to the cheek steak and dessert, everything was excellent. Even though we came as a large group, all the dishes were served promptly, and the service was attentive and seamless throughout. It may be a bit pricey to visit often, but I’d definitely love to come back and try more of the menu if I get the chance.
Fantastic experience. Great food and drink. I did the 4 course pairing which was exquisite. The starting tuna was delicious and delicate. Followed by the asparagus i could say the same. The ox cheek was the only outlier. While still good it didnt quite stand up next to the other dishes and the paired chianti clashed with the rest of the courses. Cannot reccomend enough the langostines, which had such a flavor you didnt even need the sauce. Worth the work.
Lovely and lively lunch, we had the set menu with wine pairing. Great food, and some very interesting wine choices. Will definitely come again next time we're in Stockholm.
