Description
This ain’t a catered affair, we’re in it together! We’re a group of friends (who happen to not know each other yet) off on an adventure that’s uniquely our own. We decide where to go and what to do as a team. We help each other out. We experience nature and all it will throw at us as a fun li'l community. Into the maze Soon we’re completely surrounded by water and wilderness – a labyrinth of islands spreading out in all directions. And so it shall stay, for five whole wonderful days! Large forested islands closer to the mainland. Lush clusters of islands and islets a bit further out. And a myriad of tiny barren skerries bordering on the open sea. Always a route that’s never been paddled before. A well-oiled crew of explorers. We learn as we go along. Zig-zagging our way through the maze of islands, spotting wildlife, setting up camp. Perhaps we go for an evening paddle into the sunset, finding our way back by headlight. Perhaps we just chill on the smooth rocks – cracking beers, jokes and smiles as darkness falls. Sweet spots It ain’t all wilderness. Almost all of it is, but nestled among the islands there is also a fascinating culture of archipelago dwellers, both past and present. Beautiful lookouts with cairns used as navigation marks for centuries. Homesteads and fishing villages that are beyond idyllic, Harstena in particular. Meeting some of the friendly and often delightfully eccentric islanders is a real treat! Camp life. It’s the only life we know. Doesn’t take long at all to get into that feeling. And there’s a thousand parts to play. Cooking up yummy food is a given. So is a dip in the sea. The rest is a stunning canvas, primed and pumped to be filled with small moments, big moments, serenity, cacophony, whatever tickles our fancy really.
